Hi friends,
You’re an educator. Did you know that?
If you run a business, manage a team, talk to clients, freelance … you’re an educator.
You share knowledge with your employees and coworkers every day. Like explaining a new team member how your invoicing process works.
And you’re educating your clients around your products and services, so they fully internalize the benefits and finally opt for your solution (a much better way to sell, btw).
You teach, consult, coach, and mentor. Often without realizing it.
When you adopt the mindset of an educator, you can actively get better at it and see the impact it creates.
That’s why I’m actively learning right now how people learn, what changes their perspectives and creates the famous ‘aha’ moments.
Andrew Barry is one of the best people to follow on this topic, in my opinion. Go check out his profile!
Now, here’s what I want to share with you this week…
My Latest Article / First-Ever Video
This is a proud moment for me: I published my first video. Still not 100% comfortable on camera, but getting there. Creating a speech about personal values was an assignment for Performative Speaking (the course I told you about last week).
And I wouldn’t be a good copywriter if I didn’t immediately think about how sharing values impacts the way customers perceive brands. So, if you want to learn more about that and hear my 4 core values, then you gotta check this out.
Your Actionable Copywriting Tip
Call out your reader
You already know that you should always target a particular group of people (your ideal customers) with your copy. Staying vague with the hope of appealing to anyone ultimately resonates with nobody.
When you get specific with your audience, you form a stronger bond with them and encourage trust.
So, make it crystal clear who this is for by calling out your reader on your landing page or on your website. For instance:
“For owners of Golden Retrievers with a nut allergy”
“For Python developers looking for love”
“For craft beer fans who want to lose their beer belly”
When you call them out by name, your audience will know straight away that they’re in the right place and that you understand their needs.
