What it takes to create a successful online course

Hi friends,

“Building in public” time…

We’re one month(ish) away from the next cohort of Minimum Viable Video.

That means producing and publishing a ton of content (me the written pieces, Cam the videos) to tell our audience about the power of videos and get them excited for what’s to come.

I’m feeling nervous / excited about our launch. Heard from many creators that this never goes away.

The main questions on my mind: Are we doing enough? Is our email list big enough? Is our content good enough?

The thing is…we’ll never know for sure if anything is ever enough.

We have to do our best and trust the process.

Oh, and if you haven’t already, check out our 14-day Camera Confidence Challenge. Share it with someone who hates being on camera and could use a confidence boost.

Now here’s what I want to share with you this week:

5 design mistakes that make your copy hard to read and hurt your conversion rate

Your copy can only get your readers to take action if they actually read it. And the way you present it on your website or landing page makes a big difference in that. I regularly come across common design mistakes that give readers a hard time.

What it takes to create a successful online course

It’s more than teaching students. That’s only a small part of it. To create a transformational learning experience, course creators need to wear 3 hats.

Two of my favorite people in the online course world released killer articles this week that I can’t not share with you. Add them to your reading list!

Why everyone should write a personal user manual

The internet is the new default for how we meet new people. But it’s harder to truly connect with someone if you only ever see them on Zoom. So, how can we shortcut our way to a friendship or a great working relationship? That’s where a personal user manual comes into play.

Here’s mine if you’re curious and want to hear about my strange obsession with water bottles.

PS: I wrote a thread this week reflecting on the first 20 days of Ship30for30 and the impact it has had on my growth.

The TL;DR is I’m also joining the next cohort to keep this great momentum going.

If you want to join me, use this link to get $20 off. The cohort starts on March 22nd.
