Hi friends,
I sat down, staring straight at my phone that I had clipped into a tripod.
A click on the button in my hand would start the recording.
I clicked, made it to 5 words, stumbled…F#&^@…and stopped the recording again.
That’s when I knew this was going to take forever to get done.
I was trying to record my first video last year in October.
Getting more comfortable in front of the camera was a slow, painful process. And I’m still not 100% confident.
When Cam Houser and I launched the first cohort of Minimum Viable Video at the end of last year, we found that many people struggle with camera confidence.
But with video becoming ever more prevalent, it’s a critical skill to develop.
That’s why we’ve created the 14-day Camera Confidence Challenge. To help you go from uncomfortable to confident on camera in just 10 minutes a day.

Now here’s what I want to share with you this week:
✍️ Copywriting
I’d add to that: People come for the content but will stay for the person behind the content. Don’t be afraid to reveal more of yourself so your audience can truly get to know you.
Why amazing copy won’t guarantee a successful launch and what will
Your product is ready to go. Now you just have to hire a copywriter. They’ll magically conjure up messages for your sales page and email funnel that make your prospects pull out their credit cards as if under some love spell. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that.

📈 Productivity
What’s the best thing you can do each morning?
As of today, I’ve written morning pages for 53 days straight. This has become a ritual I truly look forward to each day. Here are my “rules” for making the most out of this productive habit.

PS: Last Sunday, I got the chance to run a workshop on crafting attention-grabbing headlines for the Ship30for30 community.
I was blown away by the positive feedback I received.
As I was preparing my slides, thinking about what makes a great headline, and giving feedback to my fellow shippers, something interesting happened.
I started to pay more attention to my own headlines. And they improved!
I realized that even though I knew already a lot about headlines, I wasn’t necessarily implementing these best practices. At some point, I had switched into a lazy, default mode.
All it took was a little refresher and refocusing my attention.
