Turning customers into fans & what email marketing has to do with golf

Hi friends,

It’s been only 4 weeks since I’ve started working with my copywriting mentor…

And I can already tell that this is one of the best investments I’ve made in my career. (Yes, it’s a paid mentor program.)

To every call I show up with a list of questions. And after a few “oh snap, I hadn’t thought about it this way” moments, I leave with new ideas and clarity on what I should do.

I’m getting some much-needed advice and support as my business is evolving rapidly.

When I think about it…everyone should have a mentor.

You should be able to receive the guidance you need in your career from someone who has stood in your shoes.

Think about how much faster you could progress and the mistakes you could avoid.

So, who could you reach out to for mentorship? And who could you help lift up?

This could literally change someone’s life.

Now, here’s what I want to share with you this week.

📖 How to turn your customers into raving fans

Getting your product into people’s hands isn’t enough. Here’s another crucial step that many creators overlook.

💡 Why email marketing is like playing golf

(I have to warn you: I’ve never played a round of golf in my life, so I’m taking a risk using this metaphor. But I couldn’t resist sharing this insight I got from Billy Broas in our Keystone Accelerator call today.)

Hitting a hole-in-one is pretty hard (the odds are 12.500 to 1, apparently).

It’s the equivalent of sending a single email to a new subscriber and immediately making a sale. You can’t expect that to happen.

You have to hit the ball a few times to get it closer and closer to the cup. Each email you send builds trust with your audience and gets them closer to saying ‘yes’ to your offer.

The more often you swing your golf club, the better you’ll get at hitting the ball in the right direction. Sending emails consistently provides you with the same training effect. You’ll receive feedback. You’ll hear what resonates and what doesn’t. And over time, you’ll improve your email game.

After all, an engaged email list is the greatest asset your business can own.

PS: I’m getting way more sun here in Canada than I expected. Snapped a pic on an afternoon walk that I wanted to share with you.
