Transformational Online Courses, Audience Growth & Building in Public

Hi friends,

Today was a pretty special day.

The two online courses I’ve been working on for the last few months had their final sessions.

In the GLUE IT! Practitioner, business owners got in control of their finances and gained new confidence around their numbers.

And in Minimum Viable Video, a diverse group of professionals upped their video skills so they can now go comfortably in front of the camera and publish high-quality videos to promote their business or get a job.

Contributing to these courses and to the transformation of the students was an extremely gratifying experience.

2020 has shown me how powerful online courses and the communities they create can be.

And I’m excited to contribute even more to the online learning world in the coming year.

Speaking of online courses…

📖 How to grow your audience as an online course creator

How many people do you need on your email list to launch an online course? How many followers on Twitter or Facebook should you have? How many YouTube subscribers?

According to Tiago Forte, this number is 5k minimum.

While I get where Tiago is coming from, this threshold isn’t set in stone, obviously.

But, we can’t argue with the fact that a larger audience clearly increases the chances of your course generating sales.

In this article, I share a blueprint for growing your audience and one key principle that can accelerate your growth.

💡 Why building in public is so powerful and how to get started

Want free marketing? Tell people what you’re working on!

I’ve made a video dissecting this important principle. In 2:43 min, you’ll learn what makes it so powerful, why it’s actually hard to do, and what building in public looks like in practice.

Wait! There’s another lesson here…

To create this video, I’ve done nothing more than reading a part of my blog post out loud.

That’s an example of repurposing content. I’ve already put all the effort into writing it all down. Might as well turn it into another medium to reach more people with my message.

Now, this video lives on my YouTube channel (please subscribe ;)) and I’ll also upload it to LinkedIn.

If you’re already creating content, what are ways you could repurpose it?

It takes just a little extra effort, but you could reach so many more people.
