Matchmaking, writing lessons from Ted Lasso & learning experiences in different formats

Hi friends,

In the last few weeks, I’ve been thinking a lot about matchmaking.

No, not the Tinder kind (I’m happily married 😉)

I’m thinking about matchmaking for course creators.

Because launching and growing an online course is no small feat. Creators need help!

You can’t teach, market, organize, write, and design all on your own for long.

And I know several course creators who are looking for help with course management or content at the moment.

On the other side are freelancers and creatives passionate about the online education space and want to help course creators succeed (like me).

How can the two meet?

The solution: a job board dedicated to course creators and those who want to help them.

Niche job boards are on the rise, like this one exclusively for marketers (H/T Charlotte Crowther). So, why not for online education?

I have an early MVP ready and am looking for course creators who’d like to list a job and freelancers who want their profile featured (and are willing to give me feedback 😃).

If this sounds interesting to you, email me!

Now, here’s what I want to share with you this week.

✍️ Copywriting

4 rules to get the most out of working with a copywriter ✍️

Having a copywriter at your side is your secret weapon in business. If you use their potential to the fullest. Many don’t, unfortunately. When you hire a copywriter, follow these 4 rules to make the most out of working together.

What writers can learn from Ted Lasso

The second season of my favorite show of 2020 is starting 🙌! Ted Lasso is not only funny and heartwarming but also full of valuable lessons. And my friend Charlie pulled out the best writing lessons. My favorite: We’re taught to avoid cliches…but what if you took it to the extreme?

🤓 Online Courses

Learning experiences come in different formats

I’ve made an attempt to sort them considering two dimensions…⏳time and 🧑‍🏫 level of guidance. And distill what this means for the students and course creators. What’s your preferred format? Did I miss something?

For the online course junkie: Create a skill development plan

I’m so guilty of buying online courses because of FOMO. Luckily, Marie Poulin offers a way out. What if you knew which skills you need to develop to reach your goals? And that could act as a decision filter for buying new courses.
