Made a swipe file for you

Hi friends,

I made something for you.

My fellow course creators in the On Deck Course Creator Fellowship have been asking for examples of sales pages and landing pages as they’re building their own.

And I already had a sizeable swipe file that just needed a user-friendly format.

So, here I present to you: The Course Creator’s Swipe File.

A collection of pages (all from online courses or events) to spark inspiration.

Do you know of a great page that I should add? Please send me the link 🙌!

(I’m planning to add course-related emails to the swipe file at some point, but they need more work to compile.)

Now here’s what I want to share with you this week:

✍️ Copywriting

The name of your course is not your headline

The headline of your landing page matters…A LOT. But I see many course creators give away this opportunity to draw people in. Here’s what your headline should be and how to know if it’s compelling (check it against my SPICE 🌶framework).

🤓 Online Courses

Put yourself in a box 📦

Figuratively speaking…not literally. In case that wasn’t clear 😉.

The box is your niche. The constraints you’re imposing on yourself that limit what you talk about on social media, in your newsletter, etc.

But why would you do that? By putting yourself in a box, you grow faster.

However, this can feel hard or nearly impossible to implement.

Ten Opportunities for Successful Cohort-based Courses

If you have a hunch there’s a gap that a cohort-based course could fill, check it against this list. Aditi Parekh shares successful examples based on two years of research and 100s of conversations with online creators.

70 essays in 70 days: What I’m changing now

What started as ship 30 for 30 turned into 70 for 70 this week. Writing my daily atomic essays has been extremely rewarding. But also challenging. I’ve neglected distribution. And that needs to change!

I’m switching to a new cadence where I’m writing an essay every other day to make time for distributing the essays I already have.

Virtual hugs from Toronto (last 2 days! Traveling to the US this Sunday),
