Leaving PNG & How to Generate Leads With a Free Email Course

Hi friends,

This will be the last newsletter I’m sending from Papua New Guinea. The next one will come to you from North Carolina, where I’m staying for a few weeks with family before moving to Canada.

In the middle of packing and working on launching two online courses with some pretty smart creators, I haven’t gotten the chance to feel sad about leaving or even reflect on the 4 years I’ve spent here. I’ve “scheduled” the reflection time for the second of the two 14-hour flights I’ll be taking to cross the globe. You can read the outcome next week.

I did revisit my article “Papua New Guinea: What it’s like to live on a tropical island in the Pacific,” though. It’s the very first one on my blog, so it feels very special.

Now to what I want to share with you this week…

How to generate leads with a free email course

I’m embracing the “build in public” mindset. Last week, I created an email course with Steven Wilkinson from Good & Prosper as a lead magnet for his upcoming online course. Perfect topic for a blog post! This article outlines why we chose an email course, what it should be about, and how you can create one of your own.

Your Actionable Copywriting Tip

Are you matching the messages?

People don’t land on your landing page or website out of nowhere. They clicked something that led them there. Could have been a link in one of your emails, a Facebook ad, or a Google search result. In any case, whatever they’ve seen beforehand has created certain expectations in their heads. And your audience obviously wants those fulfilled when they land on your landing page or website.

For example: Imagine how bummed out people are if you entice them with a 50% discount in an ad, but that discount is nowhere to be seen on the page they land on.

So, always double-check that the main message from your ad or email is carried over to the top of your landing page or vice versa.

Tool of the Week: Miro

If you’re missing your office whiteboards and sticky notes, then Miro can help. You can collaborate live on an online whiteboard and create brainstorming notes, mindmaps, and more. And because you’re typing the notes, nobody has to decipher your coworker’s horrendous handwriting anymore (I was mostly the one with the bad handwriting).
