How to make your course an instant success

Hi friends,

How can I improve my writing?

That’s a question I’ve been asking myself and my mentor Pauline.

But before I could get an answer, I needed to know what’s currently “wrong” with my way of writing.

Well, there’s nothing really “wrong” with it. But Pauline pointed out that my writing can come across as quite matter-of-factly. Likely a side effect of being German.

The flipside of matter-of-fact is conversational writing – and that’s a goal I can work towards.

One of the best conversational writers was copywriting legend Gary Halbert. So, as homework, I’m currently reading his newsletters from the 1980s to subconsciously infuse his writing style into mine.

Is it working? Well, you’ll be the judge of that going forward.

(Btw, these old newsletters have been a fun rabbit hole to dive into. Full of copywriting and marketing principles that are valid to this day! I suggest you take a peek.)

Now here’s what I want to share with you this week:

How to make your cohort-based course an instant success

A cohort-based course is a great way to scale your consulting practice and productize your service. But before you jump headfirst into building your CBC, read this.

I also want to highlight an article from one of our Write of Passage students, who wrote a fantastic introduction to cohort-based courses and captured what makes them so special perfectly.

“CBC’s combine community, accountability, urgency, vulnerability and peer-learning to deliver something exceedingly unique and powerful: transformation.”

📈 Productivity

Made it! I’ve completed Ship30for30 and published 30 atomic essays in 30 days 🎉

Here’s what this did to my Twitter account. Loving these green numbers!

30 lessons learned from shipping for 30 days

Made my 30th essay a recap of the journey, capturing what I’ve learned on the way.

Since I’ve got the momentum and writing process all dialed in, I might as well continue. I’m still shipping and will also join the next cohort as an “alumni captain” to support all new shippers. If you want to join me, use this link to get $20 off (next cohort starts on March 22nd).

Virtual hugs from almost springtime Toronto,
