I’ve got exciting news 📣
I’m joining Forte Labs (the business behind one of my favorite online courses, Building a Second Brain) as a Marketing Manager.
I’m taking on the mission to…
- reach more people worldwide with our message of personal productivity and knowledge management
- launch new products and more cohorts of Building a Second Brain
- elevate our students’ experience
And I get to support the launch of the Building a Second Brain Book in 2022. (It’s already available for pre-order!)
After starting an online course from scratch (Minimum Viable Video with Cam Houser), I’m pumped to work on scaling an advanced online education business.
Does anything change for you? Only for the positive!
I’ll continue to publish what I learn about launching, running, and scaling online courses on Course Creator Lab and here in this newsletter.
(If you’re curious why I’ve decided to join a company again after 3 years as a freelancer, check out the PS below.)
Now, here are a few more things I want to share with you this week.
✍️ Copywriting & Marketing
Getting to know your email subscribers
Your email list is one of your most important assets in business. But only if said list is actually engaged.
So, I’m experimenting with a new way to get to know the subscribers to this newsletter (aka you 😃).
When a new subscriber joins the newsletter, they’ll now get directed to this VideoAsk.
They can leave a video/audio/text message introducing themselves, and I can respond.
It’s already been fun hearing about new online courses in the works and providing my suggestions.
Feel free to send me a VideoAsk and say hello!
If you want to try out VideoAsk yourself, let me know how it goes. I’m really enjoying this tool so far. The best thing is: The free version is very generous!
🤓 Online Courses
New podcast for course creators: Cohort Captain
My friend Jonathan just launched the only super actionable podcast made for cohort-based course creators. New episode every Tuesday. Check it out!
Looking for inspiration for your online course landing page?
I added some excellent new pages to the swipe file on Course Creator Lab this week. I recommend creating your own swipe file of websites, emails, even curricula that caught your attention. This way, you’re not starting from scratch when creating your own.
📈 Productivity
Have a wonderful weekend,

PS: Why give up the freedom of freelancing?
That’s actually one of the first questions Tiago asked when he interviewed me.
Here’s a bit of background: After working for 8 years in several multi-national companies and getting burned out, I course-corrected to the opposite end of the spectrum: I worked for myself, growing my freelance copywriting business.
This was awesome and scary at the same time.
I enjoyed the freedom and flexibility but also learned that I can be my own worst boss and setting boundaries with clients is hard (at least for me).
So here’s why I’m now gravitating towards the middle of the spectrum:
- I’m joining a small company whose mission I can 100% stand behind. This was super important in my decision.
- I get to work with an amazing, dedicated team. Working closely with others is something I’ve missed.
- I get access to insights and learning opportunities that I won’t have on my own. I expect my learning curve to look like this next year 📈.
- I can still grow and establish my own brand. I want to continue to help other course creators with Course Creator Lab.
So excited for what’s to come!
