A new New Year’s tradition for you

Hi friends,

I’m deviating from my usual format today to share only one thing with you: a New Year’s tradition.

No, it’s not a productivity tip, meditation, or resolution that’ll solve all your problems in 2021.

It’s a silly 10-min sketch I’ve watched every single year of my life on New Year’s Eve. And so have millions of other Germans – even though the whole thing is in English!

The name: “Dinner for One” recorded in 1963 in black and white.

The story: Miss Sophie is celebrating her 90th birthday. The only problem is… all her “party guests” are imaginary friends who died years ago. Butler James has to do the deed.

It’s simple but absolutely hilarious.

New Year’s Eve just doesn’t seem right without hearing the famous lines, “The same procedure as last year, Madam? – The same procedure as every year, James.”

Thanks to YouTube, you can watch it, too.

Why am I sharing this with you? Two reasons…

Because my “lessons learned from 2020” article that I originally planned to send out is far from done. I admit…walks in the snow, hot chocolate, and bubble baths were more of a priority in the last few days.

Because sometimes we don’t need another lesson, tip, or trick but just something that makes us laugh. May “Dinner for One” make you smile today.

Happy New Year!!!

Sparklers and fireworks,

Julia
