Hi friends,
I’m writing this newsletter to you while looking into the lush, green Texas Hill country.
This week, I’m staying at the newly-built Creator Cabins, 45-min outside Austin – container homes created out of old shipping containers by Forte Shelter.
Here’s what’s ultra-cool about this…
I’m hanging IRL for the first time with friends I’ve met on the internet (in Write of Passage, to be precise). It’s surreal at first to meet people you’ve only seen on Zoom calls in 3D.
Very grateful that this can finally happen. And I’m looking forward to setting up meetings with many more internet friends soon. (I’d love to meet you, too 😃.)
I’ve added some pictures of the cabins and the nature that surrounds it in the PS 👇
Now here’s what I want to share with you this week:
✍️ Copywriting
Your writing is only as good as your ability to delete sentences that don't belong.

How long should your landing page be?
Many creators fear too much text will lose their reader’s attention. But the thing is: Your page can never be too long, only too boring. Here’s the problem with short copy and a useful rule of thumb to find the right length for your page.
🤓 Online Courses
When a student enrolls most creators switch from sales mode to logistics mode. This is a mistake. You should continue to sell aka prove your value at each step:

• Paid & waiting for start date
• First day of course
• During course
• After graduating
4 steps to finding the right name for your course
Naming your course can feel like a huge hurdle. It means you can’t easily talk and write about your course…and get people to remember it. Worst case, it prevents you from making meaningful progress. Don’t wait for the Eureka moment. Here’s a 4-step name creation process.
Newsletter recommendation ➡️ Course Creators Weekly
If you’re feeling FOMO that you can’t consume all the content on online courses out there, then join this newsletter. My friend Merott sends out 3 hand-picked articles, videos, or podcast episodes, with bite-sized summaries every week to help you run a successful online course business.
📈 Productivity
The only metric that matters:

How often you turn up
Spending 10+ hours in front of my laptop every day was the reality for a year. Now, as I’m meeting people in person again, I can feel my priorities shifting. Maybe you’re experiencing something similar.
That also means my output in terms of tweets, atomic essays, and online engagement has taken a hit. And I think that’s for the better right now.
Virtual hugs from “I thought it would be warmer here” Texas,
Julia
